83-year-old worker is McDonald's oldest UK employee

Pensioner Neville Green is proof that people are never too old for hospitality jobs, as he still works for McDonald's at the age of 83.

Mr Green is the oldest person in the UK to hold a position at the fast food chain, and he has worked in the Hedge End branch near Southampton for a decade.

The octogenarian first took on restaurant work when he wanted something to keep him occupied during the daytime.

McDonald's was the first position he was offered and he has been working at the front of house ever since.

"I like the company. I like meeting different people each day and all the conversations I have. Going to work is really enjoyable," he told the Sun.

Mr Green hopes to stay in his job until his 85th birthday.

Anyone looking for hospitality jobs in Huddersfield may be able to follow in Mr Green's footsteps, as the city's Daily Examiner newspaper recently reported that planning permission for a 24-hour drive-thru McDonald's has been granted and the chain is applying to put its name on the building.
