Hospitality jobs have been created in Leeds with the launch of a new Mediterranean restaurant.

More than 25 positions have been made available at Ego on the corner of St Paul's and King Street, including chef jobs, kitchen staff and restaurant manager jobs, reports the Yorkshire Evening Post.

The opening comes two months after the launch of the new Ego Restaurant in Sheffield, which also led to 25 new local jobs being created.

Ego Restaurants property director Jonathan Havenhand told the newspaper the brand was pleased to have opened in Leeds and to have created new hospitality jobs.

"In spite of the recession, our experience is that people are eating out more often and that this style of casual dining is set to grow," he added.

Manchester United footballer Rio Ferdinand is reportedly planning to open a new Italian restaurant in his club's home city, reports the Manchester Evening News.
