Restaurant jobs could soon be on offer in Carmarthen, Wales, as a £74 million transformation of the town centre nears completion, WalesOnline reports.

The St Catherine's Walk Scheme is being carried out by Carmarthenshire County Council and town centre developer Simons and is expected to create 450 jobs.

It will officially open in spring 2010, with all handovers to businesses which will occupy the premises due to be completed by March 15th 2010.

Frankie and Benny's and Pizza Express have confirmed that they will be occupying units in the new retail centre, which promises to create a number of local restaurant jobs.

More companies are currently in negotiations and it is expected that further confirmations will be announced soon.

Carmarthenshire council leader Meryl Gravell told the news provider: "This development will bring huge benefits to Carmarthen through jobs, more shopping, restaurants and leisure facilities and car parking."

Last week, the South Wales Echo reported that restaurant chain Carluccio's is still planning to open a Cardiff branch in 2010, bringing further hospitality jobs to the area.
