Michelin-starred chef Angela Hartnett, who has helped TV chef Gordon Ramsay to launch a number of restaurants, will serve a meal of chilli con carne for up to 200 homeless people in the capital this Christmas.
It is part of an initiative run by Crisis the national charity for single homeless people which will see nine Crisis Christmas centres opening in London as well as one in Newcastle, reports the Press Association.
Companionship, food and other services will be offered by more than 8,000 volunteers for up to 2,000 homeless and vulnerably-housed people.
Leslie Morphy, Crisis chief executive, told the news agency: "In a country of 242,000 millionaires, nothing highlights the stark contrast more than the homeless people we will welcome to our centres this Christmas."
According to a survey by the charity, three-quarters of Brits want the government to do more to reduce the gap between the rich and poor.
Ms Hartnett's latest project with Ramsay saw them launch the York & Albany on the edge of Regent's Park in London.
