Top UK and Ireland chefs and restaurants recognised

Top restaurant managers and chefs in the UK and Ireland have been praised at an awards ceremony.

The Hi-Life Dining Awards, held at the Hilton Hotel in Manchester on January 29th, saw members of the UK and Ireland's largest dining club vote for the winners.

Manchester talent Enzo Mauro was awarded the title of Best Chef for his work at Stock.

The pick of the restaurants were Liverpool's Chaophraya which was awarded Best Newcomer, Alma de Cuba, also in Liverpool, which was given the Best Atmosphere award, while the Crab and Lobster in Thirsk, which is also a hotel, was named as the Best Overall Restaurant.

North West Tonight anchorman and news presenter Gordon Burns hosted the awards along with Slade guitarist Noddy Holder and members of the casts of Hollyoaks, Emmerdale and Coronation Street, according to Eat Out Magazine.

David Heeley, Hi-Life's company president, told the news provider: "This year's awards evening has been fantastic and we are delighted our celebrity Hi-Life members and guests from the hospitality industry have joined us for what has been a truly memorable occasion. On behalf of everyone at Hi-Life Diners Club, I would like to congratulate all the award winners."
