A young chef from the Cotswolds has scooped two awards for his efforts, reports the Cotswold Journal.

Nineteen-year-old Richard Thorpe is a commis chef at Fosse Manor Hotel and won the awards for his efforts on a three-year course at Worcester College of Technology.

He was awarded the titles of Best All Round Culinary Student in Year Three and Outstanding Achievement Throughout the Year.

Mr Thorpe achieved an NVQ level two in food preparation and front-of-house and a level three in larder and pastry.

The star student from Honeybourne has worked at Fosse Manor for the last three years and says his favourite dishes are desserts and pastries and favourite celebrity chefs are James Martin and Gordon Ramsay.

Mr Thorpe told the news provider: "It was quite a shock but I worked hard. Everyone was really proud of me."

Rising star Max Wilson was recently made head chef at the top Seaham Hall's White Room restaurant in Sunderland where he will hope to win back the eatery's Michelin star.
