Marco Pierre White officially opens Aughton eatery

Celebrity chef Marco Pierre White has opened a new eatery in Aughton near Liverpool, creating a number of hospitality jobs.

The Swan, which officially opened its doors yesterday (February 25th), is aimed at providing a good dining experience for locals rather than impressing critics.

"The greatest critic is the person who comes every week and pays your bills," Pierre White told the Liverpool Daily Post.

"That is your most important critic: your reservation book."

Restaurant manager David Thorneycroft added: "We want local people here, not people who are only going to use us once a month."

And it seems that the eatery is already proving popular with local diners, with 203 covers being served yesterday evening.

Pierre White owns a number of restaurants including Wheeler's of St James's, the Marco Pierre White Steak and Alehouse in the Square Mile, Marco, which is located in the Chelsea Football Club complex, and the Yew Tree Inn in Berkshire.
