Hospitality jobs in London are set to be given a lift this year, with the majority of restaurant managers planning to maintain or increase staffing levels in 2010.

According to Business Link's Restaurant Barometer, confidence in the sector is high, with 89 per cent of owners maintaining or adding to their workforce and 57 per cent expecting an increase in takings.

Ashley de Safrin, business adviser for the hospitality sector at Business Link in London, said: "Despite a slow January, prospects are looking up for the restaurant sector. 2010 should give rise to increasing trade through more targeted marketing and innovation by restaurant owners."

The barometer also found that customers are planning to eat out more in 2010, with 83 per cent of respondents saying they plan to visit restaurants the same amount or more than in 2009.

Hotel jobs in London could also be on the up in 2010, with recent figures from TRI Hospitality Consulting forecasting that revenue per available room in the capital will increase by 2.5 per cent in 2010.
