A new establishment in Carlisle has been given a special blessing after a former pub landlord and his wife opened a Thai establishment in the city, according to one newspaper.
The News and Star reported that Ian and Tu McGregor have opened the establishment on Wilfred Street after a Buddhist blessing from Ven Phramaha Sairung Tongam, who is from a Thai temple in Newcastle.
Mr McGregor told the newspaper: "All the big cities have everything but Carlisle has always struggled when it comes to choice - but that is changing. We have a lot of noodle meals, vegetarian options and Thai food can cater for all kinds of diets."
He added that there is a lot of choice at the restaurant and it offers food suitable for people who have gluten and nut allergies, which might interest people looking for Cumbria restaurant jobs.
The conversion of an art-deco cinema in Carlisle could bring more restaurant jobs to the north-west, according to the News and Star, which said plans also include exhibition spaces and a meeting room.
