Head chef jobs and other positions could become available in Somerset if plans to build a £5 million hotel and restaurant on the outskirts of Glastonbury go ahead.
A Premier Inn and Brewer's Fayre restaurant have been planned for the site by Cubex and Whitbread if Mendip District Council agrees to the application, reports the Central Somerset Gazette.
Cubex owns part of the Morlands site and Whitbread manages a variety of UK hospitality brands, including Costa Coffee, Table Table and Beefeater Grill.
The mooted hotel could include 60 bedrooms in a three-storey building and sit alongside a restaurant designed to cater for almost 200 people.
It would be likely to generate over 50 part-time and full-time positions.
Whitbread has been considering this move for some time, looking at other areas such as the former Avalaon Plastics site before settling on Morlands as a prospective target.
It said the proposed development would support tourism in the town in the form of overnight visitors and help to drive trade towards the nearby enterprise park.
