The company has bought a derelict building adjoining its own operation in order to create space for the move.

This £5 million project will also include the development of 40 serviced apartments, an office block, a chocolatiere and coffee shop.

Hope Street Hotel founder and chief executive Dave Brewitt told the Liverpool Post: "This is the right time to start on the project, so we’ll be running when the economy finally picks up."
